What we provide . . .
Provide post high school education to the surviving children of Hillsborough County Firefighters who die in the line of duty, or as a result of a duty related illness or injury. Occurs in any case that federal, state, municipal and/or other charitable benefits fail to cover the cost of college tuition for the surviving children.
Provide COBRA health care payments for a period of 1-year from the time of death to the surviving spouse and children of Hillsborough County Firefighters who die in the line of duty, or as a result of a duty related illness or injury. Occurs in any case that federal, state, municipal and/or other charitable benefits fail to cover the cost of health care coverage for the surviving spouse and children.
Provide travel and lodging expenses for the International Association of Fire Fighters Memorial Ceremony, held in Colorado Springs each year, for the surviving spouse and children, or a family representative, of Hillsborough County Firefighters who die in the line of duty, or as a result of a duty related illness or injury.
Provide timely financial assistance and support to Hillsborough County firefighter families who suffer a death or catastrophic injury in the immediate family that causes severe financial hardship. This benefit is based on the needs of surviving family and may include, but is not limited to, funeral costs, legal/financial consulting, mortgage assistance and medical bills.
Provide a donation to trust funds established by firefighter organizations and charities who request assistance. Established on behalf of the families of deceased or disabled firefighters, these organizations often establish trust funds to overcome catastrophic financial situations. Requests for assistance are often made by these firefighters’ families throughout the United States.
